WAR PENGUIN / EPISODE 035

The
Colony.

01 / 07

On the return march along an icy coast, Gale opens his sketchbook, recovering his spirits. His two companions haul the sledge; War Penguin accompanies them as military escort.

Sir Hubert Gale

At least science will have the emperor penguin colony.

02 / 07

At a low ice ridge, Gale peers through binoculars. War Penguin stands beside him; the two companions wait behind.

Sir Hubert Gale

There. Thousands of them.

03 / 07

Silent circular binocular view of thousands of ordinary emperor penguins milling untidily on the ice. No helmets or parade ranks.

04 / 07

Gale lowers his binoculars and addresses War Penguin with calm scientific confidence.

Sir Hubert Gale

Wild creatures, of course. Quite impossible to organise.

05 / 07

Silent. The exact same ridge illustration; War Penguin’s place is empty. Gale has not noticed. No departure or organising is shown.

06 / 07

Silent. Gale raises his binoculars again, then slowly lowers them, astonished. His companions stare toward the colony. One reader advance.

07 / 07

Silent wide. Thousands of emperor penguins in perfect parade ranks, each wearing a tiny Brodie helmet and saluting with one flipper. War Penguin inspects the front rank from a clear snow lane. Gale and his two companions stare from the ridge.
