WAR PENGUIN / EPISODE 037

The
Claim.

01 / 07

A Soviet ship lowers its ramp at the Antarctic ice edge. Battle Chicken’s red tank rolls onto the ice; the officer confidently addresses him, with five riflemen following.

Soviet officer

Товарищ, Антарктида наша, бери и владей.

Comrade, Antarctica is ours for the taking.

02 / 07

On the snowy ridge the officer raises binoculars with confident upright posture; five riflemen and the single red tank are behind him.

Soviet officer

Ни одного британца на тысячу миль.

Not a single Briton for a thousand miles.

03 / 07

Silent circular binocular view: sandbagged British trenches, barbed wire, concrete pillbox and Union Jacks, all manned by helmeted emperor penguins at attention; red-and-white striped sentry box.

04 / 07

Silent close view: Battle Chicken rises in his hatch with his own binoculars, glaring, comb bristling.

05 / 07

The officer lowers his binoculars to his chest and turns toward Chicken, speaking gravely; five riflemen wait.

Soviet officer

Товарищ, их девять тысяч. Нас шестеро.

Comrade, there are nine thousand of them. There are six of us.

06 / 07

Silent: Chicken jabs a wing toward the British lines off frame. The six Soviet humans stay put; one lowers his rifle.

07 / 07

Silent final: the same Soviet ship steams away from the Antarctic ice edge into open water. The red tank is lashed on deck; Battle Chicken slumps in the open hatch, wings hanging, head low and canonical comb drooping, utterly defeated. The officer and five riflemen stand glumly at the rail in fresh natural performances; the red banner hangs limp. On shore behind, the striped barrier, BRITISH ANTARCTIC TERRITORY. NO ENTRY. sign, Union Jack and helmeted emperor penguin sentry remain small but readable, watching them go.
